Today, you’re going to discover one of (if not the) most profound realizations I’ve had in my life—and almost all of it occurs on a subconscious level.
To get the most out of this new insight, you need to first understand the “Pareto Principle.”
The Pareto Principle:
An Italian economist named Vilfredo Pareto stumbled onto this idea in the early 1900s, when he realized 80% of the wealth in England was held by 20% of the population.
Then, about 100 years later, the “Pareto Principle” was popularized as the “80/20 Principle” by the founder of L.E.K. Consulting, Richard Koch.
Koch realized the 80/20 Principle not only applies to wealth, but to most other parts of life:
- 80% of profits come from 20% of customers…
- 80% of work is completed by 20% of your team…
- 80% of problems originate with 20% of your projects…
Almost everything in the world is subject to the 80/20 Principle.
But when it comes to the psychology of success and achievement, the 80/20 Principle is flawed.
I didn’t recognize this until I uncovered the work of a little-known psychologist from the University of Illinois, named Dr. Emanual Donchin.
“An enormous portion of cognitive activity is non-conscious, figuratively speaking, it could be 95 percent; we probably will never know precisely how much is outside awareness.”
-Emanual Donchin
In other words, 95% of our brain’s activity happens on the subconscious level—below our conscious awareness.
So why is knowing the 95/5 ratio essential for your success?
Well, if you’ve kept up with my last few blog posts, you know exactly why…
…it’s because the subconscious controls everything in our lives, like our beliefs, habits, and behaviors.
So, if you’re struggling to experience specific results in your life—by doing what you’ve always done—you may be setting yourself up for failure.
To achieve what you’ve never achieved before, you need to focus on maximizing the 5% of conscious behaviors that will shape 95% of your subconscious activity.
You see, this is even better than the 80/20 principle. This is what I call “The 95/5 Rule of Achievement.”
The 95/5 Rule of Achievement
This premise of this rule is that 5% of your activities will account for 95% of your results.
Here’s the 3-step process for taking advantage of this “subconscious loophole:”
- Pinpoint the negative, self-sabotaging beliefs silently lurking in your subconscious.
- Destroy these toxic thought patterns so they no longer ruin your efforts.
- Create new, positive, and self-empowering beliefs.
And hands down… the most effective, quickest, and proven method for executing these 3 steps is Neuro-Linguistic Programming.
The reason why world leaders like Tony Robbins, Oprah Winfrey, and Warren Buffett are proponents of NLP is because it works.
In fact, you can start using NLP right now with the “Anchoring” and “Pattern Interrupt” methods described in past blog posts.
How to Start Using NLP
You can try learning NLP on your own by reading books, listening to podcasts, or messing around with techniques in your spare time (but we know this can sometimes feel almost nonexistent).
You can even hire an NLP Practitioner for one-on-one coaching, which is an effective (but expensive) way to experience the benefits of NLP.
Or, you can come to the NLP Certification Course in Reno, Nevada from December 8th to the 10th.
In just 3 days, you’ll master over 15 different NLP techniques you can use immediately to conquer your professional plateaus, explode your social confidence, or just get back into “fighting shape.”
Plus, you’ll get to spend 72 hours with 99 other high-performing badasses like yourself.
